I mostly subscribe to the proposition that no persona is actually a persona. And, even then, there is some persona emanating from the product or projected onto it by the user ... or both.

The quote about preventing engineers from monopolizing the UI is particularly insightful. It is exactly what we saw early on with conversational AI solutions and are seeing now with generative AI solutions.

Yeah, in many ways it is a repeat of what we saw happening in the early days of chatbots. Perhaps it is a repeating cycle in innovation, in general, as innovation is oftentimes driven by a new technology.

Another conversation designer I spoke to recently said generative AI suffered from a UX shaped hole. I liked that too.
