Hope you all have been doing well. I’ve been enjoying a small summer break, so it’s been a bit silent from my side. Nevertheless, I’m happy to share with you that I’m working on two very exciting pieces: one on artificial general intelligence (AGI) and one on AI assistants in mental health, and I’ll be able to share something with you very soon.
On top of that, I’m pleased to announce a new feature: reader referrals. My newsletter has grown a lot over the past few months and word-of-mouth is one of the big reasons for that growth. I’m so grateful to everyone who shared my work with their personal or professional network, and to give something back, I can now reward people for their referrals.
Give the gift of Teaching computers how to talk!
So, here’s how it works:
1. Share Teaching computers how to talk with a colleague or friend. When you use the referral link below, or the “Share” button on any of my posts, you’ll get credit for any new subscribers that sign up through you. It’s that easy!
2. Earn rewards. When people subscribe to my newsletter because of you that comes with rewards.
Tier 1: Badge of Appreciation — 5 new people signed up because of you!
Tier 2: Token of Friendship — 10 new people signed up because of you!
Tier 3: Champion of the Newsletter — 25 new people signed up because of you!
Once you hit one of these tiers, there’s more than just eternal gratitude coming your way. You’ll receive a personal note from me and I might’ve added one or two surprise bonus perk in there as well.
My thinking is that if you appreciate the content that I put out, a friend or colleague might enjoy it too.
Not tired of reading yet?
This is it today, but like I said, I’ve got some new stuff lined up. I can’t stress enough how fast the world is changing as conversational AI technology advances and gets more integrated into our everyday lives. I’m excited to continue to share my thoughts and ideas as we go along.
In case you missed one of my recent posts:
As always, thank you for reading my newsletter.

Looking forward to the AGI piece, Jurgen! I'm slowly circling around writing about that, but I'm not ready yet, at least not directly. Will you define it mainly as "able to do any intellectual task a human can do just as well or better than a human", or something similar?
