Thanks for this one Jurgen. I have seen so many of these guides over the last couple of years, and wrote my own more than once (never good enough to share) - I am really happy to see that your version is a) concise and b) calm and level about the reality. You don't over promise and it doesn't devolve into "top ten prompting tips to supercharge your everything". I really like that.
I spotted a single grammar slip on page 9, fourth paragraph down "I leveraging" instead of "I leverage"., I think.
Thanks for the catch, I can update that. Also appreciate the kind words, I really think good resources are scarce. Nobody is waiting for another “10 things you can ask ChatGPT”.
Well, there are now top tips on "10 things you can ask ChatGPT to ask ChatGPT", or "meta prompting" as OpenAI call it... I find the idea slightly silly but potentially useful in some cases.
Yeah they ran a 25-free-generations things in the early stages (around V3), then had to shut it down when a bunch of Chinese bots apparently created accounts en-masse just to run lots of free generations.
Then they had a very brief free trial one-week period after making the website available to everyone. You can earn so-called "free hours," but you can only claim those if you're already a paying customer and run out of your allocated ones for the month.
Ideogram is a great recommendation though. Probably the best (among free options) all-around model that can handle photographic or artistic images and is excellent at prompt following and text-inside-images. Made the cut for my "go to" tools (https://www.whytryai.com/p/my-go-to-ai-tools). Also helps that it gives you 10 generations for free every day.

Really cool!
Minor "Daniel being *that guy* note" - there's currently no free version available for Midjourney. It's all paid.
Oh shit, really? It used to be that you could at least generate some stuff for free to test/try out. I'll have update that too then.

So necessary. Thanks for publishing this.
